The Common Core English Language Arts: Writing Anchor Standards
Language arts writing activities need to include opportunities for students to think about their ideas and feelings and the events and people in their lives. The Common Core's writing standards recognize this need and encourages activities such as drawing evidence from literary or informational texts to support analysis, reflection, and research help learners as they develop career and college readiness skills.
